2.5" Knife Fighting Secrets

Warning! These techniques are only intended for educational purposes only.

My son finally convinced me to release the knife video of the Miyama Ryu knife fighting style after pointing out the increasing incidences of violence in our society where persons are not allowed to carry a gun.  This style comes through our founder (Shinan) who used these techniques in combat in WWII to Major John Lewis who was a Green Beret Vietnam era veteran who taught them to me. And I passed them to my son, my daughters and a few select students.

And so here are the 7 secrets of winning a knife fight.

1. Understanding the weapon. Best ways to hold the knife for maximum cutting and slashing power.
2. Targeting. Vital areas that stop, stun or even kill in life or death situations.
3. Postures. How to intimidate an adversary of even deliver a deadly surprise.
4. Reactionary gap.  Knowing this will give you enough time to react to any type of attack.
5. Weapon Retention. What to do when he grabs your wrist.
6. Bounce. This technique saved Shinan's life during WWII and was his favorite knife fighting technique.
7. Movement.  Defending from any type of attack, from standing to even if you are tackled and thrown to the ground.
