Knife Defense Drill

Some people believe that sparring is the only way to prove the effectiveness of a technique. Sparring with a real knife however presents a problem. For example, people react differently when slashed or stabbed, so it is impossible to tell the effect of the blow. Only that it landed first. Yet, for centuries

fighting men have passed down various fighting techniques through drills. Miyama Ryu uses realistic self defense scenarios. The ancients call this type of training kata. The attacker cooperates with the defender and the outcome is known. To bridge the gap between static Kata and sparring drills such as the one in the video have been developed. Let me know what you think of this method of training.
